The Assessment and
Support Services are managed by Social Work Staff.
Assessment and Support packages are designed to meet the needs of each
family. Specific issues that may have been identified in the legal
letter of instruction or highlighted as areas of concern by the family
and or professional will be included in the focus of work. These
services are provided under a yearly Service Level Agreement with the
London Borough of Croydon.
Assessment
and Support packages include sessions at the Centre, outreach to the foster home,
family home or combination according to the needs of the child/children/
family. Assessment services consist of twenty sessions of two hours
over a period of 10 weeks.
Criteria for referral:
A parenting
assessment/treatment service may be provided if:
Where
children are on the
child protection register.
Where children or parents have
Special needs.
Where children are in
need.
Where
Court proceedings are likely to be initiated or where cases are already
in proceedings.
Process for referral:
1. Initial enquiry
taken on telephone by St Mary’s Family Centre Social work Team.
2. Referral pack
sent to enquirer with information of documents required for
information.
If in legal proceedings no referral will be accepted
without an agreed letter of instruction.
3. Enquirer to
make funding application.
4. When the referral
is received funding and allocation is discussed by the Social Work Team.
5. A funding
ratification form will be sent to the enquirer if funding is agreed. A Social Worker will be
allocated the case, on acceptance of the referral by St Mary’s Family
Centre. A professionals meeting will be convened to discuss
the focus of work/the letter of instruction.
