St Mary’s Early Years and Education Service is situated in
the main building of St Mary’s Family Centre. Our Early Years & Education Service provides
care and
education within a child-orientated environment for children aged between 2- 5
years, there is a maximum of twenty children per session.
The Early Years & Education
Department operates:
Monday to Friday 9.00am to
4.00pm
Wednesday
9.00am to 12.30pm.
Our planned curriculum for children subscribes to the DFEE’s Foundation Stage Guidance,
the Birth to Three Years Matters framework
and is underpinned by the Highscope Educational Approach.
Nursery Education funding is available
for eligible children
aged 3 Years and over including those children who may have Special Needs.
Our Early Years & Education
Service is regularly inspected by Ofsted. Their requirements are our minimum
standards. In our most recent Ofsted inspection in April 2009 we were
awarded a rating of "outstanding".

Criteria for referral
Self referral parents and Children
living in the local Community.
Children under five whose parent’s or carers have
learning disabilities or difficulties.
Children with Special Needs
Children referred by their Health Visitor who would
benefit from stimulation in a group setting.
Children on the Child Protection Register
Emergency short-term placements to assist the Local
Authority in their work with families. An emergency placement consists of 5
working days, during which a referral form is completed and planning meeting
convened.
Process for referral
Direct referrals are taken from parents and
professional agencies.
